Congressman Jerry Carl Votes Against Resolution to Invoke 25th Amendment

Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) announced he voted against House Resolution 21, which calls on Vice President Mike Pence to convene and mobilize the principal officers to activate section 4 of the 25th Amendment.

“Today I voted against House Resolution 21 which urges the Vice President to invoke the 25th Amendment, thereby removing President Trump from office. After careful consideration, it is my belief that the resolution’s claims do not meet the necessary requirements to invoke the 25th Amendment. The purpose of Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution is to address an instance when a President is incapacitated. It was not, however, designed to carry out Nancy Pelosi’s political agenda,” said Carl in a statement.

Congressman Carl’s office can be reached at 202-225-4931.
