Carl Cosponsors PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) issued the following statement regarding his cosponsorship of H.R. 1448, the Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) for Veterans Therapy Act to help connect veterans with service dogs.

Every day, we lose 20 veterans to suicide, and that’s why I’m cosponsoring the PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act. Studies show working with dogs is proven to lower symptoms of post-traumatic stress and makes a huge impact on the lives of our veterans. Our veterans are facing a crisis, and we have to do more to provide mental health treatment for those who have served our country.

The PAWS Act has been introduced in the 117th Congress by Congressman Steve Stivers (OH-15) and currently has more than 300 cosponsors.

Congressman Carl’s office can be reached at 202-225-4931.
